Your First Visit- Learn More

Your first appointment at Elite IVF Solutions will involve the following:

Comprehensive Medical History

We will ask detailed questions about:

  • Your menstrual history (cycle length, flow, irregularities)
  • Pregnancy history (past pregnancies, miscarriages, ectopic pregnancies)
  • Sexual history (how often you have intercourse, timing)
  • Medical history (other health issues, surgeries, medications)
  • Family history (fertility issues, genetic disorders)
  • Lifestyle factors (smoking, alcohol, exercise, stress levels)

If you have a partner, their medical and reproductive history will also be reviewed.

Physical Exam

A basic physical exam may be done:

  • Pelvic exam (similar to a gynecological visit)
  • Possibly a breast exam
  • Checking vital signs like weight and blood pressure

Initial Testing and Evaluation

We may recommend additional testing, typically timed according to your menstrual cycle:

  • Bloodwork to check hormone levels (e.g., AMH, FSH, LH, estradiol, thyroid function, prolactin)
  • Ultrasound to look at your ovaries and uterus (checking for cysts, fibroids, uterine abnormalities)
  • Semen analysis if you have a male partner
  • Genetic carrier screening or other specialized blood tests

Discussion of Possible Diagnosis

Based on your history and any immediate findings, our providers will begin to form ideas about what could be happening (like PCOS, diminished ovarian reserve, endometriosis, male factor infertility, unexplained infertility, etc.)

Planning Next Steps

You’ll get a personalized plan that could include:

  • More testing (i.e. HSG, SIS, hysteroscopy, advanced semen analyses, etc.)
  • Starting medications to induce ovulation
  • Planning for treatments like IUI (intrauterine insemination) or IVF (in vitro fertilization)
  • Fertility preservation options if you're not ready for pregnancy yet

An EIS Fertility Nurse Coordinator will meet with you to review your plan, explain next steps, schedule appointments and procedures, and answer any questions you may have.

Financial Counseling

Since fertility treatments can be expensive and not always fully covered by insurance, you might meet with our financial counselor to go over:

  • What your insurance covers
  • What procedures might cost
  • Payment plan options

Some Suggestions

Keep a file with copies of any previous medical records or test results. Bring this information with you to your first appointment. Be sure you have access to results of any testing performed at EIS or ordered by our providers so you can add this information to your records.

Write down your questions and concerns. Fertility appointments are information-heavy, and it’s easy to forget something you wanted to ask or discuss.

Bring something to take notes. We may discuss and explain complex options, and it’s helpful to write it down.

Some Questions to Ask

(of any Fertility Specialist if not addressed in your consultation):

Based on my history, what testing do you recommend first?

How do you decide between treatments like timed intercourse, IUI, and IVF?

What is your clinic's success rate for my age group?

What are the potential costs and what does insurance typically cover?

Are there lifestyle changes we can make to improve our chances?

If we need IVF, do you offer genetic testing (PGT) on embryos?

How long should we try one method before moving on to another?
